Most KC HiLiTES lights are not designed to be dimmed. There are two exceptions:
- RGB Rock Light Kit
- 2nd Generation SlimLite® 6" and SlimLite® 8" LED (released July 2025), which have a dimmed mode built in
SlimLite® 6" & 8" Dual Power Modes (2nd Generation)
The 2nd generation SlimLite 6 and SlimLite 8 can run at full or reduced output. You switch between modes with the 3-position switch included in the wiring kit:
- Full Power (100%): maximum output for off-road visibility
- Dimmed (20%): reduced output for on-road driving and group trail rides, so you don't blind the rig in front of you
- Off
Which generation do I have?
- 2nd Generation: 3-pin MoistureBlock® panel-mount connector on the back of the light
- 1st Generation: 2-pin DT connector. These lights have one power mode and can't be dimmed.
Note: The dimmed mode is built into the 2nd generation light itself. Installing the new wiring kit or switch on a 1st generation SlimLite will not add a dimmed mode.

Using LED Dimmers
For all other KC lights, including 1st generation SlimLites:
- Some customers use LED dimmers with our lights, but we cannot confirm the results or guarantee proper function.
- If the voltage gets too low, the lights will shut off.
- Lowering the voltage while keeping the wattage constant increases the amps on the circuit, which may pose a risk.
Customers who use LED dimmers with our non-dimmable lights do so at their own risk.
For 2nd generation SlimLites, use the built-in dimmed mode instead of an aftermarket dimmer.
