Known Issue: KC Wire Hider V2 K-Clips – VHB Tape Sizing

Summary

Some KC Wire Hider V2 K-Clips are currently shipping with a slightly smaller piece of 3M VHB tape than intended. This can make the clips difficult to apply securely in certain mounting locations. A warranty resolution is available now, and a running production change will correct the tape size moving forward.

Symptom

Users may report that their Wire Hider V2 K-Clips:

• Are difficult to install or position
• Do not adhere securely to the mounting surface

Cause

Current production units are shipping with a smaller piece of 3M VHB tape on the K-Clips than the design calls for, reducing the bonding surface available at installation.

Replacement Instructions

1. Remove the existing 3M VHB tape from any and all affected K-Clips.
2. Clean the K-Clips to remove any remaining adhesive or residue.
3. Cut the replacement VHB tape to the appropriate size and apply it to the K-Clips.
4. Reinstall the K-Clips in the desired locations.
5. Firmly press each K-Clip into place and hold for several seconds to allow the VHB tape to bond securely.

Long-Term Fix

This is a known issue that will be resolved through a running production change, with KC updating the VHB tape used on the K-Clips going forward.
