We recently identified an issue affecting a limited number of Sprinter fog light jumper harnesses included in certain kits (SKU 97171. During routine testing, our engineering team discovered that a small batch of harnesses may have been wired incorrectly, potentially leading to improper operation or, in rare cases, electrical failure.
What Happened
A review of our jumper harness inventory revealed that some units were assembled with reversed capacitor polarity and misaligned connector pins. When installed, these wiring errors can cause the harness to draw far more current than intended. In isolated situations, this may cause the capacitor inside the jumper to fail.
The moment we confirmed the issue, we updated the technical drawings, stopped production, and began a full inspection of all existing stock to prevent any further affected units from shipping.
What This Means for You
If you have recently installed one of our Sprinter fog light kits and are experiencing:
- Fog lights not operating as expected
- Unusual electrical behavior when the fog lights are switched on
- A blown fuse or capacitor
- Any sudden amperage spike during installation or testing
…your jumper harness may be part of the affected batch.
