Recently, we’ve received questions regarding the 7347 mount and its potential impact on hood alignment for Ram TRX vehicles. Tolerance Ratings and Hood Alignment
Ram has confirmed that there is a tolerance rating for the TRX hood, which may result in a slight misalignment on the driver’s side. This tolerance is part of the OEM design and may cause a gap near the A-pillar. However, it’s important to note:
- Not all vehicles are affected. The size of the gap, if present, can vary from vehicle to vehicle.
- The gap is cosmetic only. It does not impact mechanical performance, nor does it allow debris to enter the engine bay.
Adjusting the Hood Alignment
If you notice misalignment after installing the 7347 mount, you can use the two adjustable knobs located at the front of the engine bay to make minor adjustments. Here are some tips:
- Open your hood and locate the adjustable knobs on both sides of the engine bay.
- Rotate the knobs to adjust the height of the hood’s resting position.
- Check the alignment as you go to ensure the hood is as even as possible on both sides.
Important Note: Adding any additional height to these adjustments may further accentuate the OEM gap. Therefore, we recommend keeping adjustments minimal and only as necessary.
What We’ve Observed
We've contacted dozens of KC customers who have the 7347 brackets installed on their RAM vehicles. Most have confirmed the information shared above and reported no significant concerns regarding the hood alignment.
