The KC HiLiTES Cyclone V2 lights feature an easy-to-replace lens in various colors, making maintenance or customization quick and hassle-free. Follow these steps to safely remove and replace the lens on your Cyclone V2 lights.
During testing, I found that using a flathead screwdriver is effective but requires careful use to prevent damage to the slots. I also explored other tool options, comparing their effectiveness at prying off the lens without harming the tabs.
Tools tested:
- Wide Flathead screwdriver (effective but can cause the most damage)
- 10mm Socket wrench (less effective than screwdriver but causes the least damage)
- Plastic Screen Removal Tool (does not cause damage but is ineffective)
1. Power Off and Disconnect the Light
Before starting, ensure the Cyclone V2 light is turned off and disconnected from any power source to avoid electrical hazards when handling the light.
2. Lens Removal
- Use your thumb to press and hold on the tab.
- Use a recommended tool to pry at the slot in order to separate the lens from the case.
-Carefully go around the light undoing each tab a bit at a time being cautious not to scratch or damage the Cyclone V2 case.
-When all the tabs are undone, gently separate the lens from the Cyclone V2 body
KC recommends wearing gloves during this process to avoid smudging the inside of the new lens, which can impact the life or performance of the Cyclone V2.
3. Installing the New Lens
- Align the tabs on the new lens with the corresponding slots in the Cyclone V2 case.
- Press the new lens into place, ensuring that the tabs click securely into the slots.
4. Double-Check
- Once the new lens is in place, press gently around the entire diameter of the light to make sure the lens is fully seated and secure.
5. Test the Light
- Plug the Cyclone V2 light back in and power it on to confirm everything is working properly.
That's it! The process is simple and straightforward enough to perform in the field if required, but we recommend a good workbench in a clean environment with proper tools. If you have any issues or questions, reach out to our KC Customer Experience team. See you on the Trails!
